The 50th anniversary of Greece's cooperation with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) will be celebrated from 17 to 20 October at the halls of the Association "The Friends of Music" at the Athens Concert Hall, under the auspices of the British Embassy and in collaboration with the British Council.The organizer is choreographer and dance teacher Maya Sofou, who, with vision and a pioneering approach, brought the RAD ballet training system to Greece and established it.

The Royal Academy of Dance will honour Maya Sofou for her contribution to the art of dance by awarding her the title "Fellow of the Royal Academy of Dance", the highest distinction the Academy bestows on dance teachers.

A half-century of collaboration with the world-renowned English Academic Institution will be highlighted through a four-day anniversary celebration. As part of these events, a major exhibition will be presented that will include archival material and documents on the activities and contribution of the Greek ballet schools, which introduced hundreds of children to the world of dance. The exhibition is curated by Paraskevi Gerolymatou and Andreas Georgiadis from Mikro Arkto.
