Films from all over the world, workshops, talks, original audiovisual installations and performances comprise the 9th Syros International Film Festival, held with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, and occupies the island of Cyclades from 22 to 26 July. From classic masterpieces to contemporary experimental cinema and from Russia to the US and Europe, SIFF mixes art forms, images, sounds and cultures in the most unexpected places on the island! The selected theme “Off Season” continues for a second year and the films shown focus on different conceptions of time, the different “speeds” at which humanity operates, forced movement and attitude, the management of personnel and “free” time as a fundamental human right.Thus, in the context of “Off Season/Out of season” theme, SIFF presents two original commissions of artistic works that for the first time make use of hard-to-find archival material.
