Outside Athens and Epidaurus Festivals, Giorgos Kimoulis
The Athens and Epidaurus Festival had planned to include in its program this year the play “Filoktitis”, directed by Tsesaris Graouzinis, starring George Kimoulis for the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus. As stated in the press release of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival: Under the heavy shadow of the latest developments, namely the publicized last name complaints of colleagues of Mr. C. Kimouli for insulting their personalities, we were led to the unpleasant, but forced, decision not to include this actor in the group of artists who will participate in the Athens and Epidaurus Festival this year. The Artistic Directorate is in consultation with the producer and director of the show, to secure a new agreement for this year's program, with the same or with another project, with a view to securing the rest of the troupe members. Our intention is not to act in a punitive manner, nor to substitute for the courts. But it would be irresponsible of us to ignore the harsh and branded testimonies of professionals in our field of unethical practices and behaviors that do nothing but honor Art and its people.
