This year's event for the Melina Mercouri Theatre Award took place tonight, Monday 16 April 2018. Ioanna Kolliopoulou will hold the Melina Merkouri pin from today and for one year for her performance in the play “Stella Koimisou”, which was played for two years at the National Theatre. The prize amounts to 3,000 euros and the honored actress keeps Melina Mercouri's brooch for a year, which she hands over to her namesake who is honored next year. The prize committee consists of Maya Lyberopoulou (president), Dio Kangelaris, Matina Kaltaki, Dimitris Lignadis and Reni Pittaki (members). The other three candidates were: Amalia Kavali (Orlando), Alexandra Kazazou (Insenso), Evgenia Dimitropoulou (Stella Violanti)
