At the age of 88, the great comedian who shook generations with his memorable lines, breathed his last breath today Wednesday, February 26, after a long hospitalization in a private clinic.
Costas Voutsas, a great lover of life, even a few days before he was hospitalized, played in the theater in the children's play “Cinderella”.
His life was full of beautiful women and he was even proud of it. He had children with all three of his wives. In fact, the most recent member of the family is his son who was born in 2016, when Kostas Voutsas was 84 years old!
His path in cinema
The great comedian was born in 1931 in Athens to a refugee family, but grew up in Thessaloniki where his family settled. His father worked as a road worker and little Costas invented various footwork for survival. During the Occupation years, she distributed notices to the cinemas along with other “Eagle Children” of EPON.
From a young age he had the actor's “germ” and growing up he enrolled in the Drama School of the Macedonian Conservatory of Thessaloniki. In Thessaloniki he made his first theatrical performances with local and then with touring troupes. He debuted in the cinema in 1953 in the comedy by George Lazaridis “Dad is trained”.
Finally, when he came to Athens in the late 1950s, his fame began with the films of Finos Film, “Alice in the Navy” by Alekos Sakellarios and “The Hard Man”, by Yiannis Dalianidis.
Kostas Voutsas took part in countless productions such as: “Some prefer it cold”, “The Card Player”, “The Beads of the Seas”, “Wedding Night” and “Girls for Kissing”, giving the viewers unforgettable lines, such as “I have a cake let's go for a walk” and “Fsssss Point”, “Arch, neighbors!”
