Pantelis Dentakis: Since you can't beat the inevitable, bully him a little...
On the occasion of the show Two Gods, which he directs, Pantelis Dentakis spoke on stage about surrealism in our lives and the most dangerous addiction of our society.
The play would be called a surreal futuristic comedy. What role do you think surrealism plays in our lives? Life is full of absurd moments. Sometimes beautiful and sometimes ugly. I think that makes her interesting and exciting. Many times, of course, you need to spend some time without surprises, without absurdity. Not too much, a little, so you can rest. Describe to us in four words each of the four acts of the work. We could say that the first act is “normality,” the second is “rebellion,” the third is “absurdity,” and the fourth “farewell.” Tell us a little bit about Patrick and Miguel. What characters are they? It's Fat Man and Lignus, Vladimir and Estragon, two cynical clowns. Apolitic by position, highly politicized by nature. They love the world that Man has made, but at the same time they do not care at all if it is destroyed. What do you think is the central meaning of the project? “Since you can't beat the inevitable, bully him.” What is the most dangerous addiction in today's society? I think Man is deeply addicted to stupidity! What emotions does the work give you? It is a work like life. It gives you a bittersweet taste... Have you met Leno Christidis personally? Yes, he has come to 4-5 rehearsals and to the premiere. If you could change or erase something in the history of mankind what would it be? I don't know, I would try to figure out what went wrong with human evolution and the “model” came out so sketchy, and I would change it.
