The film "Regan" is the first feature film by director Panos Katsimperis which premiered at the 66th Thessaloniki Film Festival. I met the young protagonist Irini Lafazani and she talked to me about her personal experience and her impressions. Would you like to share your impressions of the Thessaloniki Film Festival?It was the first time I went to a festival in general and it was great. It was a great three days that I enjoyed. At the same time we were running the film and I couldn't see much but it was a nice experience that I will never forget. Tell me about the heroine you play; - It's about a young girl where we meet her at different stages of her age... there are two parallel universes the one she lives in her head and the real life she inevitably can't avoid. Essentially the whole film is about failure and dealing with it, we see this character working with her emotions and expressing her feelings negatively or positively. Expressing herself fearlessly with no qualms about what will be said about her. She is in a management of failure and how she can be creative and speak for herself without being fake. How would you characterize the film: - A b-movie thriller-comedy. I think that's how I would describe it. I wouldn't call it a psychological thriller because it has a b-movie feel to it. It also has a lot of comic elements. There's nothing funnier than watching a man confronted with a mistake and not knowing how to deal with it by coming to an uncomfortable situation. How was your collaboration with Panos Katsimberis?Panos and I met when I went for a casting of a series that we didn't end up getting and Panos was an assistant director there. He saw me and offered me to be in a movie he had written. I of course accepted and slowly we started meeting and working on the script. We didn't do a lot of rehearsals. Generally I don't like rehearsals very much and then on the set there was a relaxed atmosphere but always under the guidance of Panos. Did you find common ground with the heroine?I think the only thing I have in common with the heroine is our fears. The fear of failure also torments me. Otherwise she can express her negative emotions with intensity, which I don't do. We see her reacting and asserting herself, even if it doesn't work out well for her. I wish I could get some of that. How difficult is it to be an artist these days and chase your ideas?In this particular case, I think Panos was tortured to make the film. It's a very high cost to make a film and I think it's crazy that he chased it, that is, to find the crew and create all the things that Panos had in mind because there was also the possibility that the script would be put in the drawer and never be made. We were also very anxious about whether the film would go to the Thessaloniki Film Festival and now about whether it would manage to find distribution and be shown in cinemas.
