Two graduate students, supervised by the Emeritus Professor of the EKPA Mr. Thanos Veremi, they undertake to investigate the regeneration of the Greek nation during the four hundred years of the Turkish occupation. Through dramatized scenes, narrations and interviews with historians and professors, the series “The Birth of a Nation-State” revives post-Byzantine Greece, from the fall of the Byzantine Empire in 1453 and the long Ottoman rule, to the preparation and outbreak of the revolution for independence in 1821, but also during the first turbulent years of free Greece until the middle of the 19th century. At the same time, the series sheds light on the social, linguistic, cultural, as well as educational implications that the long period of the Turkish yoke had on the development of Hellenism. The historical curation of the series is signed by Professor Thanos Veremis, together with Andreas Kouko, PhD, Doctor of the Faculty of Philosophy at EKPA. In the roles of the two students we meet the actors Dimitra Matsantonis and Alexandros Chrysanthopoulos.
