Alexandros Raptis was born in 1979 (age 47 years old) in Thessaloniki.
He studied theatre at the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (acting direction) and at the postgraduate degree of the Department of Theatre of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
He has attended film and theatre seminars, and since February 2006 he has been a member of the Society of Greek Directors. He has worked as an actor and director in theatre groups, as an assistant director in advertising and cinema, and has directed five short films (twice awarded in festivals) and numerous theatrical performances for children and adults in Athens, Thessaloniki, London and News York.
In 2009 he founded together with Fotis Dousos the theatrical group Hippo , which is active in the field of adult and children's theatre, as well as educational drama. They have traveled with their performances in Europe, America and Australia.
Since 2014, he has organized and animated with his collaborators theatrical workshops for children in Greece, in the USA. (California and New Jersey) and Australia (Melbourne). In 2018 he delivered a seminar on the occasion of the personal style of the group (kinemo) to professional actors at Thespo19, an international youth theater festival in Mumbai, India.
He was a member of the record bands Semper Cras and Darnakes. His short stories have been distinguished in literary competitions, and he has written scripts, plays and texts for cinema. His book “CINEMA AND THEATRE - Shakespeare in Akira Kurosawa's cinematographic work” is published by Greek Avant-garde publications.
