Synopsis
The text of the young Greek playwright Sofia Gourgouliani “The AGLAONIKI”, inspired by the life of the first Greek astronomer, is coming in April at the “wide-space studio” in Exarcheia.
Nalia Zikou with the live creation of sound soundscapes creates a theatrical “non-place” exploring the limits of contemporary performance in a one woman show where theater meets visual installation and electronic music.
After four official entries and a special mention in the Podcast Competition Section of the Thessaloniki Film Festival and the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, Nalia Zikou and Sofia Gourgouliani attempt to transfer the sound footprint on stage through a peculiar “experiment” where they mix The Berlin avant garde meets the Balkan underground in equal proportions.
*The show you will see, hear and feel is inspired by the life of Aglaoniki, the first Greek astronomer. Little is known about the life of Aglaonika. The first is that he came from a town in Thessaly. And the second that the inhabitants of the region and the period never accepted her as an astronomer, but only as a witch. So the story we are going to tell is about a fantastic life. Or not. A life divided into different lives, different leaves and different seasons. Or not. *
Since 2021 when they met, Nalia Zikou and Sofia Gourgouliani have been working together continuously proposing a new way of perceiving and creating cinema and theatre. Sofia has an associative poetic but absolutely everyday speech that creates unique images and Nalia with her modern aesthetic and look perfectly communicates with the writing aesthetic, creating each time distinct worlds and universes.
