The space in which the project unfolds is the living room of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in the suburbs of London. Time, known only through a broken clock. The couple has just dined. The strangeness of the Smiths universe, and the banality of their daily lives, emerges through the established evening talk of the pair. We learn how many children they have, what they eat, who their neighbors are. The event that upends the couple's psychic nirvana is yet another (unannounced!) dinner with their cordial friends, Mr. and Mrs. Martin. What is it that remains to be proven in the end? The answer comes from Ionesco himself: “Let us not blackmail situations, let things develop on their own.” --- The show takes place at the House of Smiths a site specifically designed specifically for the show.
