Synopsis
What does it mean for someone to grow up in the shadow of a genius? What does it mean to live by dedicating your life to “being” someone you love? What does it mean to live like a satellite around the earth? To be a humble flower under the shade of a large tree? Arthur's sister Rebeau lived a life devoted to love for her brother. It always looked like a little butterfly around the blinding light of a lamp. And yet, in the end, she was the one who had the most power from the two of them. She supported him to his martyrdom, proving that the strong are not always who they seem.
Isabelle Rebeau, a woman raised in a suffocating, strict Catholic environment, tells us about her own life, which is completely intertwined with that of her brother. A woman who suffered mental anguish after witnessing the bullying of the world, because of her socially “waste” brother, does her best by defending him with a passion that excites her.
Isabel engages in a heartbreaking battle with her inner world and through her love saves herself and his backwardness.
So she embraces her dead brother in religious reverence, like another Myrophora.
Isabel's theatrical speech is framed by excerpts from Rebeau's poetry, letters as well as excerpts from Isabel's book “My Brother Arthur”, “Mon frère Arthur”.
The text of the show “ISABEL REMPO, MY ARTHUR” is published by KAPA EDITORIAL.
