Based on a true friendship story that renegotiates “togetherness”. Lou, a four-year-old but neglected eight-year-old from Australia, is constantly sobbing: “How can someone who is born be a failure?” “Do mermaids burn?” “Have you been fooled?” Bill, an atheist Jew from New York, overweight and with Asperger syndrome, is constantly confused. Bill and Lou, separated but together, are an unexpectedly “perplexing” duo, whose loneliness smoothes Allo's loneliness. With sarcophagus humor and disarming rawness, the The story touches on childhood neglect, mental imbalance, school violence, loneliness, depression, resentment, self-esteem and social isolation, highlighting friendship, solidarity and social isolation. Respect for weapons of vanity and the only good for survival and individual freedom.
