Synopsis
The Red River begins to roll, unfolding a series of events that upend what until then seemed a given...
The story begins in the town of Ak Dag Maten in the prefecture of Ankara in May 1895 when the family of Georgios Pavlidis betrothed their 12-year-old son, Milto, to the only 9-year-old Iphigenia, daughter of Michalis and Sofia Nikolaidis. It is a marriage of expedience, as was customary at the time among children of Greek families, since according to Muslim customs if a girl was engaged it was considered dishonorable and she was not allowed to become a Muslim woman.
The rapid political and social developments shake the Hellenism of Pontos and decisively affect the lives of the heroes. The attacks of fanatical Turks will force the Pavlidis and Nikolaidis families to leave their place.
Miltos and Iphigenia meet again by chance in Istanbul 11 years later. Unaware of the family bond that binds them, they fall in love with lightning bolts. A love that is tested in a difficult historical context that overturns all facts. A dream of life that will resist suffering with only love as a weapon...
