In the particularly dynamic composition worked out by the artist, a young girl ascending a tower made of books holds a brush and paints a globe, greening its continental parts. To the viewer's eyes, only the southern part of the hydrosphere is visible, and it is indicative that the artist chooses to represent a regular semicircle rather than extending the visible part of the hydrogen to the physical limits of the building — perhaps a possible reference to the Global South and the sharpness of educational inequalities of the things recorded in
it.As outlined by the UN in Goal 4, quality education is the basis for improving human lives and sustainable development. Significant progress has been made in terms of access to education at all levels and school attendance for women and girls. Basic writing and reading skills have improved tremendously. However, bolder efforts are needed to achieve the goal of universal education. Indicatively, more than half of children who do not attend school live in Sub-Saharan Africa, while an estimated 50% of children who do not attend primary education live in conflict-affected areas.
