The Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, with the assistance and support of the National Bank, completed the five-month Young Playwrights Workshop, which began at the end of December 2016 and lasted until the end of May. On July 13, 14, 17 and 18, he presents on stage the three one-act works that stood out.
The authors Eleni Zioga, Vasilis Katsikounouris, Vangelis Chatzigiannidis and the Presenter and Manager of the Workshop, author Iraklis Logothetis, chose, together with the theatre director, director and manager International Relations of IMK, Alexandra Georgopoulou, the three works presented on stage.
Along with the performance of the plays, they will also be presented in two volumes, Greek and English, by the Scriptwriters Publications of Greece.
The directors Roula Paterakis, Sofia Palantza and Giorgos Lyras, together with their actors, helped in the effort to bring the works of the young writers to life on stage.
The purpose of the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation and the Laboratory, with the unwavering support of the National Bank, is not only to give prizes and simply to stage new plays. The aim is to bring the artistic work of young people into contact with the audience, so that the authors can measure the public response of their works and to give the opportunity to deepen even more in the process “from paper to stage” with the help of the directors, in conditions of a complete performance.
The purpose is also the bilingual (Greek-English) publication of the works and their promotion in the artistic world as well as their familiarization with the book market.
