The nominations for the 12th theater award “Melina Mercouri” have been announced. This year's nominees for the award are: Evgenia Dimitropoulou for “Stella Violantis” by Grigorios Xenonopoulos directed by George Lyra Amalia Kavali for Virginia Woolf's “Orlando” directed by Ios Bulgaraki Alexandra Kazazou for “Insenso” by Dimitris Dimitriadis directed by Petros Sevastikoglou Ioanna Kolliopoulou for “Stella Koimisou” by Yiannis Okonomidis, directed by Yannis Okonomidis. The prize amounts to 3,000 euros and the honored actress keeps Melina Mercouri's brooch for a year, which she hands over to her namesake who is honored next year. The prize committee consists of Maya Lyberopoulou (president), Dio Kangelaris, Matina Kaltaki, Dimitris Lignadis and Reni Pittaki (members). The award will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 20:00 at the Melina Merkouri Foundation (Polygnotou 9-11 Plaka, tel:2103315601) with free admission.
