The National this year on holiday days will give its viewers a taste of Christmas Miracles. A series of events will be presented in the Rex Theatre and the Chiller Building, before and in between the performances, where words will come to life and become shapes, colors, sounds, songs, smells and people.
What is the event
Ten lonely people (actors of the National Theater) receive an invitation to a strange “rendezvous” at a certain place and time: Soldiers singing on Holy Night and hearing - so unexpectedly - soldiers from the enemy trench singing with them, on Christmas Day... in 1914. Heroes of Papadiamantis who find the strength to wait, who seek within themselves the power to save and therefore to be saved. Tourists and tour guides in Japan of the most kitschy Christmas on the planet. And even Chaplin, Chekhov, Brodsky around the Tree of Life that recall literary and historical moments of human solidarity, companionship and humanity and bring together ten (and why not dozens) lonely (or not) people who might have stopped believing in the “gifts” of Christmas. And of course, carols! White, frosty and — finally! — comforting.
The Christmas Miracles are also presented in collaboration with the Municipality of Athens and the Friendship Clubs of Athens from 17/12 to 17/1.
