Synopsis
THEATRE OF THE NO, the first English-speaking theatre in Athens, presents the black comedy “Bachelors and Bachelorettes” by leading playwright, director and writer Hanoch Levin, directed by Vasia Vasiliou.
A dark, spidery, amusingly twisted comedy comes to town, brazenly exposing the ridiculousness of our nature, through our need to avoid loneliness, asking essential and crucial questions: Is companionship a real need or just a fear of loneliness? Does love matter in a relationship after all? Is intimacy an inner need or just a way to overcome our insecurities?
Z. is about to marry F, who he declares unequivocally to the public that he does not love her. F. quits Z. and connects with X. who was connected to M. who is connected to O., who knows she is connected to X. and later to Z. but insists on connecting with her. Z. dumps M. and returns to F. for a while after F. returns to X, and Z. to M. always in the presence of O. And the labyrinth of desires, fears, insecurities never ends.
