Synopsis
Menelaus and other mythical heroes like you've never seen them before.
The new play by Andreas Staikos, “ERMIONI”, will have its national premiere at the Michalis Kakoyannis Foundation (Basement) by the Theatre Company House, directed by Andreas Staikos and will be presented every Monday and Tuesday from October 17th.
Andreas Staikos first classifies Hermione in the legend as a central heroine since we have known her to this day as a secondary heroine in the Trojan War.
Through a comic look, well-known mythical heroes embark on a journey playing and fooling around with themselves and their fate. Menelaus becomes Takis, Ermioni and Chrysothemis satisfy their temporary pursuits and desires in beach bars. A timeless look at the myth of the continuity of Hellenism.
A game without limits that ends with the end of life.
The role of Nikos Xydakis's music is the fifth and most catalytic protagonist. In a play set on a golden sand, a beach of Laconia with the sunshine of the midday sun and the atmospheric light of the full moon, in a play full of love, the music of Nikos Xydakis recalls the vastness of the sea and the night, fundamental elements in “Erlerk” Mione”. The songs of the show are performed by the actors a cappella to musical instruction of the composer.
Heroes and ghosts of heroes, episodes and reflections of episodes from the battlefield and especially from the background of the Trojan War, ideal setting for the search for theatricality. The most primitive and modern aspects of theatricality coexist to show the individual elements of this theatricality (disguises, transformations, reversals, surprises, etc.), they contribute to the genesis of the play, a necessary condition of theatre, life and history.
