Breaking Art: A creative collaboration workshop for young choreographers and composers aged 21-30
Emerging choreographers and composers collaborate artistically for eight weeks in an intensive workshop of creative cooperation presenting original works at the Palace
January — March 2018 Free Participation Submission of applications by: October 30, 2017 Start of workshop: January 23, 2018 Choreographer and educator Sofia Mavragani and musician, composer and researcher of new media Thanos Polymeneas-Liontiris present an intensive workshop from January to March 2018, which focuses on new choreographic and musical creation. Six choreographers collaborate with six composers to create original works that will be presented to the public. Bringing together people who are active in different fields and follow different artistic practices, the workshop studies the relationship between dance and music and through a collaborative process offers both technical creation tools to the participants, as well as the experience of creative fermentation. The aim of the workshop is the artistic support of emerging artists, strengthening their aesthetic choices and networking the new generation of artists. The workshop begins in January 2018 with an intensive 1-week program and is followed by rehearsals with feedback and one-on-one meetings with the presenters, while the process culminates with the presentation of the new projects to the public at 13 & March 14, 2018 at the Athens Concert Hall. The program is the brainchild of choreographer Sofia Mavragani and is being implemented for the first time in a production by the Athens Music Hall for the artistic period 2017 — 2018. Interested parties can find detailed instructions on the Megaros page www.megaron.gr for the application process, which ends on October 30, 2017.
