Porta Theatre
Greece

PORTA was inaugurated in 1984 by Xenia Kalogeropoulou. Two stages operate in the theater. POPTA aimed at adult viewers and MIKPH POPTA aimed at children. POPTA initially presented mainly productions by Xenia Kalogeropoulou. However, it also hosted other artistic organizations from Greece or abroad, as well as well-known theater and dance groups. Similar planning is followed by the new artistic direction. In the spring of 2004, the Porta Theater breathed new life into the educational field of theater with the creation of a workshop section of seminars for children, teachers, theatreologists and for those who work, through the theater, with children. Subsequently, the workshop became autonomous — always keeping close cooperation with our theatre — as the Xenia Kalogeropoulou Theatre Workshop, while the educational activity of Portas was mainly oriented towards theatre professionals through the constant organisation of courses and seminars. Since 2014 the artistic direction has been taken over by Thomas Moschopoulos, who has been a close associate of Xenia Kalogeropoulou for many years.
