Within the framework of the 61st Philippi Festival, the International Workshop on Ancient Drama is successfully organized for the second year
After the great success of the 1st International Workshop of Ancient Drama, which was organized for the first time in Krinides last year, the Philippi Festival and the Municipality of Kavala repeat the project this year, with invited important artists from three groups.
Vellerefontis directed by Yiannis Kalavrianou, Prometheas Desmotis from the Drama School “Delos” under the direction of Georgia Mavragani and Oedipodas directed by Thodoris Goni, compose the mosaic of the performance-producers of the Philippi Festival, which will be presented in the ancient theater on August 20 - 21 - 22, with free admission for the public.
The workshop will take place in the area of Krinides from August 1st and will culminate in the creation of the above three new performances inspired by ancient drama.
A total of 33 actors, scenographers, playwrights, directors and luminaries will live and work in Krinides within the framework of an original international theatrical camp at the Ancient Theatre of Philippi with an artistic and educational character.
The rehearsals and all the preparation of each performance will be open to the public and will act as an open workshop for students, the local community and anyone interested in attending them. Also open will be the separate workshops that the directors will hold, presenting their way of working on the show they are going to create.
The Ancient Drama Workshop is the core of the Philippi Festival, the personal look, cultivation and responsibility.
