Dario Fo's Mistero Buffo is one of the best known works of the Italian Nobel Prize-winning writer, with which he traveled the world performing the role of Guillare, a clown who tells stories from the Bible. Following in Fo's footsteps, Mistero Buffo's performance premiered in May 2016 in New York City at the Balcony Theater of West Park Presbyterian Church, and was later repeated in the same city as part of the United Solo Theater Festival, where it won the award for Best Physical Theater Show 2016. In June 2017, Mistero Buffo took part in the Hollywood Fringe Festival in Los Angeles, where it was awarded the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Producer's Award, while in September, Guillare found himself in another major US theater center, Chicago, participating in the Chicago Fringe Festival. In October, Mistero Buffo is hosted by the Acre International Fringe Festival in Israel. The performances will take place in the seaside historic city of Accra on October 8, 9 and 10. In February 2018, the same show will be presented in London, produced by Ark4Art! The show Mistero Buffo, directed by Litus Triantafyllidou, is a reenactment of The Last Supper hosted by a clown. Through monologues, narrative and dramatic moments, interactive scenes and “crowd scenes” (always given by an actor), Guillare spreads his revolutionary message against any system that uses bullying tactics to impose itself. Actor Panos Vlachos interprets a multitude of characters, giving an interpretation of high demands and achieving a political and artistic statement, commensurate with the remarkable course of the work.
